Prescribing Time: Shang Han Lun Lecture Series (18 CEUs) Practitioner Price
If you have ever felt that studying the classical formulas has been reduced to memorizing endless lists of symptoms and indications, you are not alone. In modern TCM education, we are often trained to match formulas to symptoms mechanically- an approach classical scholar-practitioner Yan Zhong (Kevin) Zhu compares to “waiting by the stump for the rabbit.” This upcoming lecture series is designed to dismantle that paradigm, and rebuild your clinical framework from the ground up, restoring the elegant, unified logic of the Huang Di Nei Jing and Shang Han Lun.
At the heart of Kevin’s teachings is the view that the Shang Han Lun embodies a medicine of time. In this series, you will discover that the six channels are not static lines on a chart, but rather dynamic progressions of Qi transformation that synchronize with the temporal cycles of the sun and seasons. You will learn how, as the ancient sages would have viewed it, “prescribe time” to your patients, restoring the natural solar rhythm of the body.
This series will also revolution your understanding of the herbal pharmacopeia. Rather than analyzing herbs through dry chemical profiles, you will learn to read the “philosophy of the plant,” how an herb’s name, botanical form, and natural growth pattern dictates its functional movement inside the body. Discover why Mai Men Dong is structurally designed to guide heart fire down through the middle “gate” into Kidney water, and how the heroic Fu Zi acts as a deep catalyst, unlocking the body’s stored essence to mobilize an elite catalyst for defense against cold.
